While Toyota is seeing an increase in the sales of Glanza with time passing, the sales of Baleno seems to be going down. FYI, both are literally the same car with different badging.
Toyota bought the new Glanza a couple of months back, as its attempt at the premium hatchback segment. It seems like a decent start for Toyota as it sells the rebadged Maruti Baleno, which is the best-selling in the segment.
With time passing, the sales of Glanza have increased and for the month of September, Toyota sold 2700 units of the hatchback. In the meantime, sales of Baleno came down to 11,420 units in September 2019. The sales of Baleno in April were around 17,000 units. That’s the month, the Glanza was launched.
While there is a slowdown in the auto sector for some months now, reports suggest that the sales of Toyota Glanza might actually be hurting that of the Baleno. Of course, since Glanza is cheaper than the Baleno and also offers a higher warranty.

In an interview to ET Auto, RC Bhargava, Maruti Suzuki Chairman, said that they are not worried about it. The official states that the benefits for both the companies will be seen through a long term period, when there are more products launched.
Further, the cross badging between Toyota and Maruti has decreased the cost of production and overheads because of sharing. This technique is familiar in the Indian market, as Nissan and Renault did earlier with their sedans, so did Volkswagen and Skoda.
With time, we expect the sales of Toyota Glanza to increase gradually. The hatchback comes in five variants – G MT, G MT (Smart-Hybrid), G CVT, V MT and V CVT. The prices start off at Rs 6.98 Lakhs up to Rs 8.90 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

The G variant of Glanza is based on the Delta variant of Baleno, the second-in-line trim. It gets a 1.2 Litre BS-6 compliant petrol engine with Smart-Hybrid system. The engine produces 90 BHP and 113 Nm of peak torque, delivering a mileage of 21 kmpl (claimed).
The highest selling variant of Glanza is the G MT (smart-hybrid), which is around Rs 70,000 cheaper than Baleno. With the same features like touchscreen infotainment, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Auto AC, Electric ORVMs and more, it has caught the attention of many buyers. Also, Toyota offers a better warranty of 3 years/1 Lakh kms.
