The entry-level motorcycle segment in India has two most promising products – Honda Shine 100 and Hero Splendor Plus. These have been around for a while and hence, the bike companies know their target audience in this segment. Therefore, both Honda and Hero have tried to make their entry-level motorcycles quite attractive in terms of prices, features, performance and mileage. Honda Shine 100 vs Hero Splendor Plus – Specs Comparison
Honda Shine comes with a new 100-cc air-cooled fuel-injected engine that makes 7.61 hp and 8.05 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. You could expect a great mileage of around 60-70 km/l. Mileage is the main factor in this segment and Honda claims the segment-best fuel economy figures. It comes with conventional shock absorbers.

On the other hand, the Splendor comes with a 97.2-cc air-cooled fuel-injected engine that makes 7.91 hp and 8.05 Nm of peak power and torque. There is a 4-speed manual constant mesh gearbox mated to this engine. The claimed mileage of the Splendor is around 70 km/h too but the real-world figures would deviate from that a little. It has 5-step adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers which are missing in the Shine 100.

Honda Shine comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, drum brakes, clear-lense headlamps, mini fairing, black colour with body graphics, a long seat due to the long wheelbase, a speedometer, aluminium grab handles and more. On the other hand, Hero Splendor Plus comes with a lot of regular features including XSens Technology, engine cut off at fall, passenger footrest, body graphics, 18-inch alloy wheels, drum brakes, analogue speedometer, tripmeter and odometer and more.

Honda Shine 100 is priced at Rs 64,900 whereas the Hero Splendor Plus ranges from Rs 72,076 to Rs 74,396. For the extra money, you get a better rear suspension and some additional features. But if you are looking for a basic motorcycle with the highest fuel economy and lower price, Honda Shine 100 emerges as a great option.
