Fortunate misses are rather common on Indian roads and here is the latest example of that.
In a shocking instance, an iron rod flies into the windshield of a Maruti Swift. We keep witnessing incredible incidents on our roads on a daily basis. This is yet another addition to that. Indian roads are some of the most dangerous in the world. That is why a lot of foreigners are afraid to drive here. But sometimes, the problem lies not in the mentality of people, but in sheer lack of luck and the quality of infrastructure. This latest case belongs to that category. Here are all the details.

Iron Rod in Maruti Swift
This post comes from filmygags on Instagram. It captures quite a concerning instance. Two iron rods are seen pierced through the front windshield of a Maruti Swift. As per the information in this post, these rods flew from a bridge of the flyover. The vehicle is parked underneath it. Perhaps he was driving at a regular speed and was able to stop as soon as the rods hit the car. The most important aspect is the fact that the driver was able to escape as the rods missed him by inches. We can’t imagine the consequences otherwise. There doesn’t appear to be any more damage to the car either.

What We Think
We are aware of the fact that the quality of the road infrastructure of our country is not all that great. This becomes even more apparent during certain times of the year like the rainy season. The condition of the roads deteriorated to a large extent. This latest case of the iron rod falling off from a bridge is also an example of that. In all honesty, there is nothing that the Swift driver could have done to prevent this. We can only hope that the concerned authorities watch this and come up with a proper solution. Also, they must ensure that such structural failures don’t happen again.
