This has to be the most powerful VW Virtus in the country. It bears stage 2 modifications and a new ECU imported from Europe. Aftermarket car modifications are getting incredibly popular in our market, particularly in the last few years. People are heading out to car shops to make their vehicles stand out from the crowd. However, mechanical alterations are still not all that prevalent. Let us take a look at the details of this latest case.
India’s Most Powerful VW Virtus
This video comes from The Drivers Hub on YouTube. It captures the host with a swanky black VW Virtus which bears a few aesthetic modifications. These include things like a black roof-mounted spoiler, new 17-inch alloy wheels with new Michelin tyres, new coilovers for adjustable height, a carbon fibre hood and tons of other black inserts to give it a sporty appearance. However, the main talking point about this Virtus is its Stage 2 engine. This takes the power to a whopping 180-190 hp. That is significantly higher than the 150 hp it comes within its stock settings. The owner of the car has imported the ECU from OEM to boost the power output.
The host finally takes it out on the roads. Here, the exhaust noise is the first tweak you will notice. The host mentions that the power delivery is linear but strong. You can definitely feel the difference. In fact, he goes as far as saying that this is how the GT version of the Virtus should’ve come from the factory. The raised suspension ensures that the underbelly of the car doesn’t get scrapped over rough patches of the road. Finally, there is more potential once the owner decides to upgrade the turbocharger as well. Interestingly, this setup of the new ECU and its components costs a rather affordable Rs 90,000.
Our View
I don’t come across too many professional engine modifications and stage 2 tuning in India. Firstly, the components are not easily available. Secondly, there are not too many trusted car modifiers which can do a great job of ensuring hardcore tuning. Finally, the laws are pretty tricky in India and don’t allow for unusual customizations. All things considered, I relish such frequent instances of people going all out to alter the entire driving dynamics of their vehicles. Still, I would advise our readers to consult your local RTO before going for any changes to your cars.
