This has to be the first supercharged Maruti Jimny in the country. The lightweight off-roader has been thoroughly modified by 6th Mile Customs. Jimny is one of the most successful and prominent off-roading machines in the world. With a legacy spanning over 5 decades, it has been the go-to affordable off-roader in many international markets. However, it is the first time in its long history that the customers get a 5-door version. Indian customers demand practicality in conjunction with affordability. That is what led to the creation of the 5-door Jimny. Thereafter, people have been taking it to the aftermarket shops to install new elements. This is a prime example of such a case.

This video comes from The Drivers Hub on YouTube. The host has this fire-breathing version of the Jimny. He explains all the modifications on this SUV. Firstly, the aesthetics have been customized to make it look more butch. This includes colossal wheels and tyres, a working snorkel, an Alpha Reisen aluminium bumper, a gloss black grille, body cladding, auxiliary lights, an Alpha Reisen roof rack, twin exhausts with a throaty growl and more. While these components transform the appearance of the Jimny, what lies under the hood is even more special. It gets the same 1.5-litre petrol engine which is now supercharged. Its main highlights include:
The host takes the supercharged Maruti Jimny out on the highway for a quick run. With this supercharger, the power delivery is quite linear. There is no sudden surge of power. It builds up gradually and goes up in the RPM range. That is a trait of the supercharger in comparison to the turbocharger which gives the initial boost once the turbo spools up. Being a tall SUV, the body roll is still apparent. However, the increased height ensures that you glide over just about every obstacle on the road. Finally, the exhaust sound will certainly remind you of some supercars. The price of this modification is around Rs 7 lakh.
Our View
I have come across many aesthetic modifications to the Maruti Jimny, but going for an engine overhaul is not all that common. That is what makes this so very special. However, I must caution our readers about the possible issues the authorities could have with such an insane modification. Therefore, I would advise you to consult your local RTO prior to going for such extreme mods on your cars. But in terms of sheer customizations on this Jimny, I am pretty impressed.
