Maruti Jimny is one of the most customizable products in the country which is why we see so many enthusiasts coming up with unique versions
In this post, we take a look at a custom Maruti Jimny which utilizes rear wheel steering and performs crabwalk. Jimny is one of the most successful off-roaders in the world. It has been around for over 5 decades in the international markets. At present, this is the first time in its history that we get to experience it in a 5-door avatar. This makes it greatly practical and family-friendly. For now, let us take a look at the details of this professionally customized Jimny.
Custom Maruti Jimny with Rear Wheel Steering and Crabwalk
We are able to feast our eyes on this unique Jimny courtesy of Flywheel International on YouTube. The host explains all the technical specifications which have gone into making this monstrous Jimny. Interestingly, the car house has installed this rear wheel steering system on the stock Jimny axle itself. It uses a hydraulic system which is electronically controlled. There is a jack system at the rear which is borrowed from a tractor. This ensures that the heavy-duty components are installed which results in high durability.
With the button mounted on the gear lever, you can move the rear steering towards right or left, depending on the need. Finally, the host shows the real-life usage and application of this system. He performs hardcore drifts using this setup in both directions demonstrating how easily and swiftly the rear steering changes direction. Finally, he showcased crabwalk which can be immensely helpful in off-roading scenarios. He mentioned that it took him 2 months to complete this modification. Also, he has taken this Maruti Jimny across all sorts of terrains to test its performance and reliability. This includes off-road tracks, drives on uneven surfaces and regular highways.
My View
I come across insanely intriguing customizations quite frequently. However, I must admit this has to be among the most impressive iterations I have seen in a while. The car shop has done a commendable job of altering the very nature of the Jimny without involving too many parts from the outside. Still, I would like to advise our readers to consult your local RTO prior to going for such extreme customizations. We know that most car modifications are illegal in India.
