In this latest video, an Indian vlogger reviews the new Ford Endeavour in arguably its most value-for-money trim. There’s been significant chatter in the market regarding Ford’s return to India, specifically with the Endeavour (Everest) model. While the international markets know it as the Everest, in India, we’ve known it as the Endeavour. Thus, it’s essentially the same vehicle for us. Additionally, considering the patents Ford has recently filed in India, it’s possible we’ll see the Everest arriving on our shores soon under the Endeavour badge. For now, let’s delve into the specifics of this SUV from Thailand.

This video comes from Bunny Punia on YouTube. The front section contains a notable C-shaped LED DRL design which surrounds the main LED headlamp cluster, a rugged dual-strip chrome belt on the radiator grille, contours on the bonnet, chrome housing for the fog lamp cluster and a sporty bumper. On the sides, there are 18-inch alloy wheels, prominent wheel arches, side steps to enhance the ingress and egress process for the passengers and roof rails. At the rear, you get LED taillamps which are connected via a glossy black glass panel which runs the width of the SUV. Other bits include a roof-integrated spoiler, Everest lettering and a rugged bumper. All in all, it is larger in dimensions in comparison to the outgoing model, as well as its arch nemesis, the Toyota Fortuner.

There are multiple powertrain options with the new Ford Everest in various international markets. The one the vlogger has in this video is a 2.0-litre turbo diesel mill which generates a decent 170 PS of peak power. There is a 6-speed automatic transmission with this engine. Just to cut the costs, the base trim could come with a 4×2 configuration. We shall have to wait to see if Ford offers this variant to Indian customers.

Author’s Note
Recent Ford job postings and sightings of the Ranger and Endeavour in Chennai suggest that we may soon witness the American automaker’s return to our market, following a hiatus of two and a half years since it ceased car manufacturing here. With an existing Chennai plant capable of producing 150,000-200,000 cars and 350,000 engines annually, Ford’s re-entry into the Indian market holds significant strategic importance. The company will undoubtedly be eager to address the challenges that previously led to substantial losses totalling $2 billion. This time, prioritizing profitability will be crucial. While there’s consideration for introducing premium models like the new-generation Endeavour and the Mach-E, the primary focus will be on mainstream models such as the mid-size SUV to strengthen its position in the country.
