The BYD Yangwang U8 hybrid SUV comes with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine which works as a power generator for the battery, essentially making it an EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle). It has a 49 kWh BYD Blade battery offering an all-electric range of 180 km. There are four electric motors – one on each wheel enabling a total power output of a jaw-dropping 1,180 hp and a max torque of 1,280 Nm. This propels the gigantic SUV from 0-100 km/h in just 3.6 secs. The battery can be charged from 30-80% in just 18 minutes with a 110 kW DC fast charger. As per the Indonesian market, this SUV costs Rs 1.6 Crore (in terms of INR). BYD already sells cars in India. Let us see if it ever brings it to our market.
