It is, sort of, becoming a trend where people love to travel across continents in their personal vehicles
An NRI drove his Mercedes G-Wagon from the USA to India. In the last few years, I have reported numerous such cases. Somehow, people are really fascinated by the idea of travelling around the world in the comfort of their personal vehicles. While that might seem like a relatively straightforward process (provided you love to drive or have other people who can drive), the challenges are massive. In fact, these are often not related to driving or mechanical issues. For now, let us delve into the details of this latest case.
Indian Man Drives Mercedes G-Wagon From USA To India
This post stems from HER GARAGE on YouTube. She interacts about the entire details of this trip with the owner of the Mercedes G-Wagon, Navtez Dadwal. He was born in Goa and moved to the USA around 20 years ago. Having worked there, he saved enough money to fulfil his dream of owning a G-Wagon. A few months ago, he decided to venture onto this treacherous and exciting odyssey to India from the USA by road. He drove to the coastal area of Canada by road and shipped the SUV from there to the UK. From the UK, he kept driving on the road to reach India.
In total, he travelled over 44,000 km in 110 days which included 32 countries and 50 cities. He mentions that he drove from England to Iran covering all the major countries. However, since he holds a US passport, he was not allowed to enter Iran due to geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran. He had to make a U-turn back to the Netherlands and plan a different route via Russia. This added over 3,000 km to his trip. Thereafter, he mentioned that the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan were the most friendly, while he had a terrible time in Russia. In fact, he says that he will never visit Russia again.
Costs
The main aspect of this trip was the costs. He mentions that the fuel cost was approximately a whopping Rs 22 lakh. Furthermore, he had to pay for the hotels, parking, food, tolls, Carnet, insurance, etc. In total, this amounts to a jaw-dropping Rs 90 lakh. Now, he wishes to go to attend a wedding in Pakistan and explore the country. Thereafter, he will return to India to travel around the entire country in his Mercedes G-Wagon which bears a California number plate which reads LEOMESI.
