In June 2012 we covered the Indian Car sales report for the month of May 2012 of most of the car manufacturers existing in the domestic market such as Maruti Suzuki, Honda, Hyundai, Ford, Tata, Mahindra & Mahindra etc. We are here again with the sales report for the month of June 2012 this time.
Maruti Suzuki India Car Sales Report In June 2012
India’s number one car manufacturer Maruti has shown an interesting growth of 20 % in June 2012, thanks to the new Dzire and the newly launched Ertiga. Segment wise the entry level series comprising of Maruti 800, A-Star, Alto and Wagon-R has shown is down by 10 %. Swift, Estilo and Ritz together have shown a 39 % increase. SX4 and Kizashi are not selling much numbers and are showing a decrease of 42 % and 81 % respectively. In the compact sedan category Dzire is shown an outstanding growth of 452 %, while in the utility vehicle segment the Ertiga has delivered a mind boggling 2947 % growth with more than 5000 units sold.
Hyundai India Car Sales Report In June 2012
Hyundai Motors, the second largest car manufacturer and country’s largest car exporter has registered a vey mild growth of 3.5 %. The manufacturer has registered aggregate sales of 54,354 units in June 2012 as against 52,521 units in June 2011, which is up 3.5 %.
Domestic car sales are up by 0.2 % with 30,450 units against 30,402 units recorded in June 2011. Exports from Hyundai are up by 8.1 % with 23,904 units exported in June 2012 against June 2011’s 22,119 units. Segment wise the A2 league(Eon, Santro, i10 and i20) has sold 44,046 units, the A3 segment(Accent and Verna) 10,182 units, the A5 segment Sonata 39 units and lastly the SUV Santa Fe 87 units.
Tata Car Sales Report In June 2012
Tata Motors’ commercial and passenger vehicle sales in June 2012 were 64,341 units, including exports, expressing a 3 % drop over the figures recorded last year’s corresponding month. The company’s total domestic sales for commercial and passenger vehicles were 58,270 units which is 5 % lower than 61,266 units in June 2011. The company’s exports sales are up by 19 % with 6.071 units in June 2012 compared to 2.094 vehicles in June last year. Individual segment sales include a 21 % drop in commercial vehicle business and 22 % dip in passenger vehicle sector. Tata Nano’s sales are up by 3 % with 5.605 units compared to last year June’s 5,452 units. Indica and Indigo sales are lower by 35 % and 46 % respectively. Utility vehicle line-up consisting of Sumo, Safari, Aria and Venture sales have grown by 5 %.
Honda Car Sales Report In June 2012
Leading premium car manufacturer Honda SIEL Cars India has registered an impressive growth of 157 % during April-June 2012 despite the fact that petrol prices have come down by a small margin only. But for the month of June 2012, the company’s sales are down by 27 %. In June 2011 the company sold 3,455 vehicles which has come down to 2,667 vehicles in June 2012. Honda says that it deliberately held back its sales to avoid stock build-up at dealerships. The company hopes to recover its sales before the festive season. Individual car sales are as follows: Brio – 609, City – 1253, Jazz – 649, Civic – 58, Accord – 53 and CR-V – 45.
Volkswagen India Car Sales Report In June 2012
Volkswagen India sold 5,371 vehicles in the month of June 2012, which is an 18 % increase over the sales of May 2012. However when compared to June last year, the company’s sales have dropped by not more than 1 %. The company sold 5371 units in June 2012 as against 5397 units in June 2011. For VW – Polo, Vento and Jetta have been the strongest performers in the month of June and the company hopes the sales to rise over the next few months.
Toyota India Car Sales Report In June 2012
Toyota Kirloskar Motors has registered a growth of 22 % in June 2012. The growth comes from 14,700 units that the company has sold in June 2012 over 12,034 units in the corresponding month last year. The Etios hatchback and sedan together sold 6.155 units compared to 5739 units in June 2011, thereby registering a 7 % growth. Innova registered a 45 % growth with6,785 units as against 4,665 units sold in June last year. The SUV Fortuner has also expressed a growth of 26 % with 1,249 units in June as compared to 990 units sold in June 2011.
Ford India Car Sales Report In June 2012
Ford India is content with its exports sales but the domestic car market is still very challenging. Cumulative sales including domestic wholesales and export units in June were 7,281 vehicles. Of this 6,259 vehicles were sold in the domestic market in June 2012 as compared to 7,023 vehicles in June last year, an 11 percent dip. The same is not the case for the company’s exports though, as it has registered a 29 % growth with 12,248 units since January 2012 as compared to 9,460 units sold during the first half of 2011.
General Motors(Chevrolet) India Car Sales Report In June 2012
General Motors India has reported a decline of 10.65 % with 7,364 units sold in June 2012. Last year in June, the registered sales were at 8,242 units but this year the sales are down by one tenth. The June sales include 5236 units of Chevrolet Beat, 741 units of Chevrolet Tavera, 614 units of Chevrolet Spark, 557 units of Chevrolet Cruze and 181 units of Chevrolet Aveo. The company has recently launched the updated Cruze and new Captiva and we hope they will attract some more sales before the festive season.
Skoda India Car Sales Report In June 2012
Volkswagen’s premium car subsidiary Skoda Auto India has registered a growth of 89 % for June 2012. In June 2011 the company’s sales figures were 2610 units which have now grown to 4,923 units for June 2012. For Skoda, the key sales driver is the Rapid sedan which is a strong proposition in its segment and the launch of Superb Ambition low cost variant has further strengthened the growth rate.
Audi India Car Sales Report In June 2012
Audi has been going strong in the market and with the launch of the Q3 recently, the brand’s position has been reinforced. Since January to June 2012, the company has registered a 43 % increase. For the month of June 2012, the sales are up by 76 % with 718 vehicles sold as against 408 cars in June 2011. The key sales puller for the month of June has to be the Audi Q3 SUV with a whopping 500 bookings in just 5 days. Audi is the most liked premium brand on Facebook with 804,000 fans and also the most awarded luxury car brand in India with 27 awards.
Mercedes-Benz India Car Sales Report In June 2012
Mercedes-Benz has been facing a hard time after losing the number 2 manufacturer spot to Audi but the hopes are still high. In the month of June 2012, the company has registered a growth of 10 % despite the impending slowdown and rising fuel costs. The credit for the growth is to be given to the third generation Mercedes M-Class launched in May 2012. The new M-Class has sold nearly thrice the numbers it sold during the same period last year.
