July 2012 has been an eventful month for the Indian automobile Industry. Overall, the sentiments of the Indian auto markets are not too high because of weak economic cues and high fuel prices. Let us have a look at car sales for the month of July 2012 for all major Indian car brands in India.
Maruti Suzuki India Car Sales Report In July 2012
India’s number one car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has shown a cumulative growth (domestic + exports) of 9.2 % in July 2012. Segment wise the entry level series comprising of Maruti 800, A-Star, Alto and Wagon-R is down by 23.7 %. Swift, Estilo and Ritz together have shown a 73.2 % increase. SX4 and Kizashi are not selling much numbers and are showing a decrease of 70.5 % and 93.8 % respectively. In the compact sedan category Dzire continues to show an outstanding growth of 277.8 %, while in the utility vehicle segment the Maruti’s sales have grew by an astonishing 1036 %, thanks to Ertiga for helping the company sell more than 7200 units.
Hyundai India Car Sales Report In July 2012
Hyundai Motors, the second largest car manufacturer and country’s largest car exporter has registered a cumulative growth of 6.4 % for the month of July 2012 with 52,485 units as against 49,666 units in July 2011. The manufacturer has registered domestic sales of 27,585 units in July 2012 as against 25,642 units in July 2011, which is a 6.4 % up. Similarly for the sales from exports, the company has registered 25,260 units in July 2012 against 24,024 units in the same month last year, expressing a 5.1 % increase. Segment wise the A2 league(Eon, Santro, i10 and i20) has sold 44,274 units, the A3 segment(Accent and Verna) 8,454 units, the A5 segment Sonata 32 units and lastly the SUV Santa Fe 85 units.
Mahindra & Mahindra India Car Sales Report In July 2012
Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s leading SUV manufacturer today announced a cumulative growth of 19 % in auto sales with 47,059 units sold in July 2012 as against 39,633 units sold in July 2011. The company’s domestic sales were 42,799 units last month as against 37,323 units in July 2011, an increase of 15 %. The passenger vehicle segment registered a growth of 27 % with 22011 units in July 2012 as against 17312 units in July 2011. M&M exports have also rose from 2310 units in July 2011 to 4260 units in July 2012.
Tata Car Sales Report In July 2012
Tata Motors’ commercial and passenger vehicle sales in July 2012 were 74,159 units, including exports. This figure expresses a 15 % growth over the figures recorded in last year’s corresponding month. The company’s total domestic sales for commercial and passenger vehicles were 68,627 units which is an 18 % increase over 57,990 units sold in July 2011. The company’s exports sales are lower by 15 % with 5,532 units in July 2012 compared to 6,512 vehicles in July last year. Individual segment sales include a 4 % up in commercial vehicle business and 53 % increase in passenger vehicle sector. Tata Nano’s sales are up by 68 % with 5485 units compared to last year July’s 3260 units. Indica and Indigo sales are up by 51 % and 40 % respectively. Utility vehicle line-up consisting of Sumo, Safari, Aria and Venture sales have grown by 59 %.
Honda Car Sales Report In July 2012
Leading premium car manufacturer Honda SIEL Cars India has registered an impressive growth of 95 % during April-July 2012 despite the fact that petrol prices have come down by a small margin only. The company sold 24,462 units as against 12,526 units in April to July 2011. But for the month of July only, Honda sold 4386 units against 4725 units in July 2011, facing an 8 % drop. The company hopes to recover its sales before the festive season. Individual car sales are as follows: Brio – 1715, City – 1843, Jazz – 598, Civic – 138, Accord – 39 and CR-V – 53.
Toyota India Car Sales Report In July 2012
Toyota Kirloskar Motors has registered a growth of 7 % in July 2012. The growth comes from 14,574 units that the company has sold in July 2012 over 13,592 units in the corresponding month last year. Model wise distribution is as follows: The Etios hatchback and sedan together sold 6.024 units compared to 6,646 units in July 2011, thereby registering a 10 % dip. Innova registered a 39 % growth with 6,678 units as against 4,816 units sold in July last year. The SUV Fortuner has also expressed a growth of 24 % with 1,316 units in July 2012 as compared to 1,060 units sold in July 2011.
Ford India Car Sales Report In July 2012
Ford India is satisfied with its exports and domestic sales but for the month of July 2012, the company has faced a 17 % dip in the domestic car market and a 13 % up in its exports. Cumulative sales including domestic wholesales and export units in July were 8,323 vehicles. Of this 6,236 vehicles were sold in the domestic market in July 2012 as compared to 7,504 vehicles in July last year, a 17 percent dip. The same is not the case for the company’s exports though, as it has registered a 13 % growth with 14,335 units sold since January 2012 as compared to the number it sold in the first half of 2011.
General Motors(Chevrolet) India Car Sales Report In July 2012
General Motors India has reported a decline of 23.38% decline in its sales at 7,285 units for July 2012. Last year in July, the company registered sales of 9,508 units but this year the sales are down by nearly one fourth. The July sales include 4354 units of Chevrolet Beat, 1615 units of Chevrolet Tavera, 534 units of Chevrolet Spark, 501 units of Chevrolet Cruze and 176 units of Chevrolet Aveo. The company updated the Cruze recently and launched the next generation Captiva. We do hope the sales pick up before the festive season.
Nissan India Car Sales Report In July 2012
Nissan India has exhibited its sales figures for the month of July 2012 and interestingly it has registered a growth of 118.5 %. This year in July, Nissan India sold 3481 units as against 1593 units sold in the same month last year. Of the two models being sold by the company, Nissan Sunny and Nissan MIcra, the former is leading with 2436 units while the Micra hatchback sold 1028 units in the month of July. Premium products such as X-Trail, Teana and 370Z also added a little to the growing sales.
