MG has unveiled the India-spec ZS SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo. The SUV will go against the Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun and Hyundai Creta in the 10-15 Lakhs range.
After launching the MG ZS EV in India, the manufacturer now brings in the regular ZS at the 2020 Auto Expo. It is one of the many models that MG Motor India is going to bring in over the next couple of years.
MG ZS is a compact SUV that will go against Creta, Seltos and the new VW Taigun. The SUV is 4.31m long and gets a wheelbase of 2585mm. That makes it at par with its rivals in the segment and also a lot smaller than the Hector.
MG ZS is powered by a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 111 BHP and 160 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed MT and an automatic gearbox. It will be a petrol-only car in the highly competitive compact SUV space.
The styling is identical to the ZS EV that we have, with latter getting specific bits for an electric car. The India-spec MG ZS Petrol is a facelifted version that was recently launched in the International markets. To differentiate itself from the ZS EV, it just gets a different front grille and misses out on all the EV badges.
Features onboard will be the same that come on the ZS EV. So, there will be the panoramic skyroof, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps, Cruise Control, 20.32cm Touchscreen Infotainment with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay And Voice Recognition, LED headlamps and a Twin-Pod Analogue Console With 8.9cm MID.
On the safety side, MG ZS will get Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, six airbags, ABS with EBD, Front and Rear Disc Brakes, Hill Start Assist, Rear Parking Sensors with a rear parking camera.
