With just a few weeks left for the Kia Carnival launch, we now have details about engine specs, seating configurations, safety and features and much more.
The launch of the Kia Carnival is just round the corner at the 2020 Auto Expo. It is going to be Kia’s second product in India and it has been directly targeted against the Toyota Innova Crysta. Although it is expected to be priced a little more expensive than the Innova Crysta at about Rs. 30 lakhs, ex-showroom, it is the closest rival to Kia’s MPV.
We had previously reported that the Kia Carnival will be powered by a 2.2 liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. Now we can confirm that output figures of the engine. This engine will be producing 200hp at 3,800rpm and 440Nm of torque at 1,750-2,750rpm. Like we had reported earlier, the engine will be mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard.
We had also reported that the Carnival will come in multiple seating configurations. It will come in six-, seven- and eight seater configurations and that should pitch the MPV across multiple price points. The entry-level Carnival is likely to come with the eight-seat configuration and while that will be pretty well kitted, the top-spec Carnival will come with a six-seater configuration and will be quite more premium.
Now we can also confirm on the features list of the Kia Carnival. The top-spec model of the Carnival will get Kia’s signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, a floating-roof design, a rear spoiler, LED headlights, fog lights and tail-lights, along with front and rear skid plates. Safety features on the higher-spec versions of the Carnival will include six airbags, traction control and electronic stability control systems, hill-start assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a rear parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, an automatic defogger and an electronic parking brake.
The features on board the cabin is one of the key talking points of the Kia Carnival. The top-spec model of the Carnival will come equipped with a powered tailgate, keyless entry and go, wireless charging, a power-adjustable and ventilated driver’s seat, cruise control, a rake- and reach-adjustable steering unit, power windows, three-zone climate control, Nappa leather upholstery and a dual-pane powered sunroof.

Just like the Seltos, the Carnival will also get Kia’s UVO connected technology through an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system which takes center stage on the dashboard. The system gets an e-SIM to enable all the connectivity features and even comes paired to a Harman Kardon sound system. There are also two 10.1-inch screens (mounted at the back of the front seats for the rear passengers) in the higher-spec trim as standard.

As for luggage space, the Carnival will have 540 liters of luggage space with all three rows of seats up and it expands to 1,624 litres with the third row down and a whopping 2,759 litres with the second row folded away as well. Kia has already started taking bookings unofficially for the Carnival. We will have more details about the Carnival as we approach its launch in February.
