Toyota will soon be unveiling a facelift for the Yaris globally which is expected to arrive to India by 2021. The new facelift makes the Yaris look a lot like Lexus cars and that’s only a great thing.
The current-gen Toyota Yaris has been on the market for quite some time now and it has in more ways than one started to show its age. Over the years, sales numbers for the Toyota Yaris has also been going down with its age going up. However, to bring it up to times, Toyota is going to debut a facelift for the Yaris sedan in the international market on July 25. Ahead of its unveil, the Yaris has been spotted completely undisguised and there’s quite an upgrade.
If you are familiar with cars, you’d immediately notice that the face of the Toyota Yaris facelift now looks a lot like Lexus sedans, and that’s a great thing. The grille on the Yaris facelift now spans the almost the entire height and width of the bumper and grille design is almost identical to that of Lexus sedans. In the Yaris, the grille gets an all-black treatment as opposed to the spindle grille that you would see on Lexus cars. This however is a base-spec trim and higher spec trims will see a little more bling with some little chrome on the grille.
The fog lamp housings have also been redesigned and are much larger than before. These too have been inspired from Lexus cars. The car in the first image only features halogen headlamps, but top-spec trims will feature full LED headlamps, a first for the Yaris. The Yaris featured in the second image is in fact a higher-spec variant and you can see the LED headlamp units and chrome inserts on the grille. At the rear, the Yaris facelift will get newly designed tail lamps and also perhaps a re-profiled bumper.

The interiors of the Yaris is however expected to pretty similar to the pre-facelift car. There could be some new trims and materials used for the dashboard and the infotainment system will also be updated to feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It could even see some connected car tech along with other usual features such as automatic climate control, cruise control, a coloured multi-info display, powered driver’s seat and a rear sun shade. The Yaris has always been a decently equipped car and it will only build over that.

The Yaris facelift is expected to reach India by early 2021 and when it comes, it will most likely remain unchanged under the hood. That means it will continue with its 107PS 1.5-litre petrol engine that’s currently offered with a 6-speed manual transmission and a CVT. The compact sedan segment is on a bit of resurgence currently in India with the coming of the new Honda City, the updated Skoda Rapid and the Volkswagen Vento and the Toyota Yaris will join this lineup soon. It’s only good to see a lot more variety on our roads and we hope the new Yaris fares well amongst its competitors.
