Hyundai India will start fitting Reverse Assist Camera with display on the inside rear view system on all the variants of Hyundai Verna Fluidic as a standard feature soon. The feature is offered only on the top end SX and SX(O) models of Hyundai Verna. The feature list of Verna is one of the most extensive and impressive in its segment which makes it one of the high selling cars in the C Segment sedan space. Interestingly the demand for the higher end models of the Verna Fluidic is higher compared to the base variants or lower end models after which Hyundai has started offering the reverse camera to increase the sales of the Verna Fluidic lower end models.
With the decision to make it a standard equipment on all the models or trim levels of Verna Fluidic will make it a more attractive option as customers like such features in this segment, but it will also mean a hike in the prices of the Verna Fluidic which maybe between Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 20,000 to offer this additional feature on Verna.
Fitting of same inside rear view mirror system on Verna models will also help Hyundai save some time on the assembly line as it will reduce the number of component options here. Hyundai has good demand for Hyundai Verna and has sold close to 9,600 units of Hyundai Accent and Verna in April 2012 which comprises of a large part of Verna cars. There is good demand for Verna especially the diesel versions because of its fuel efficient diesel engines which help to keep the running costs low at the time when the prices of the petrol are much higher compared to the Diesel fuel prices in the country.
There is stiff competition to Hyundai Verna Fluidic posed by cars like Honda City 2012, Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento etc. which come with superior handling and competitive pricing. But besides being not so well behaved on higher speeds, Verna remains to be on the higher side of the sales because of its class leading features and luxury it provides on the inside which matters more to average buyers than sporty dive and handling. It will be interesting to see how the new feature addition help the sales of Verna lower end models in India.
