Hyundai Verna is one of the most feature-rich sedans in its segment, even when it comes to safety. Recently, the Verna facelift was launched in India which got new BS6 compliant engines, new transmission options and more features.
Recently, we received an image of a Hyundai Verna that was involved in a high-speed accident. The accident occurred just before the lockdown and is now awaiting repairs. The involved Verna is the pre-facelift version.
The Verna crashed at a high speed and thanks to its airbags, all the passengers were saved inside. The crashed unit is the mid-spec variant that gets dual airbags. After the crash, the driver also complained that the fumes started coming out of the bonnet.

The owner is now confused if his car has been totalled or will be repaired. Since the lockdown is going, the car cannot get repaired now. Based on the engine fumes, the owner suspects that some damage has been done to the engine as well.
To clarify, if the claim is more than 75% of IDV value, then it is considered as a total loss. This can be properly repaired but will cost somewhere around a Lakh. This accident of Hyundai Verna also shows that its airbags are indeed helpful.
Verna pre-facelift came with six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, rear parking camera, automatic LED headlamps and Day/Night IRVM. The latest/facelifted Verna additionally gets front parking sensors, rear disc brakes, Hill Start Assist Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Electronic Stability Control and more.

The Verna facelift is priced from Rs 9.30 Lakhs up to Rs 15.09 Lakhs (ex-showroom). It now gets three engines including a 1.5 Litre petrol, a 1.5 Litre turbo diesel engine and a new 1.0 Litre three-cylinder turbo petrol.
