Hyundai Venue N-Line could come to India as a more premium and sportier version of the upcoming Venue sub-compact SUV. Could rival SUVs from a segment above.
With the country all slated for the launch of the Hyundai Venue on the 21st of March, it will be a whole new playing field for Hyundai as this is the first time that the brand is venturing in sub-4m SUV space. However, that’s not the only new space that Hyundai might be venturing into. Hyundai North America COO, Brian Smith had confirmed at the 2019, New York Auto Show that an N-Line version of the Venue is in the works. Hyundai could bring that to India and position it as a sportier and more premium version of the Venue.
Internationally, Hyundai’s performance cars are either sold as an N-Line car or an N-Performance car. The ‘N’ in the nomenclature signifies Hyundai’s Namyang R&D Centre in South Korea which stands at the helm of Hyundai’s global research and development network. The N Performance cars are the cars with higher tuned engines and are essentially more hard core than the regular ones. The N Line cars on the other hand get some fancy body kit to differentiate it from the regular cars and come with a mild bump in performance as well.

Coming to Venue, this compact SUV could be powered by a turbocharged, 4-cylinder version of the 1.6L petrol engine that could churn out 200 PS of power. However, this engine will be for the international market. For India, Hyundai could equip the Venue N-Line with the turbocharged, 1.0L petrol engine, tuned to produce about 120 PS of power. The engine could come mated to the 7-speed dual clutch gearbox.
Being an N-Line model, styling would be one of the most important areas for car. It could get a sporty body kit with blackened grille and alloys, redesigned bumpers, side skirts and definitely, the N-Line badges.
On the interior, the Venue could get contrasting double-red stitching on the dashboard, steering wheel and also on the leather around the gear level. There would also be the N-Line badges on the gear lever, the door sills and the head rests of the seats. Being a top of the line trim, it will come pretty well loaded with all features and conveniences like sunroof, wireless charging, cruise control, eight-inch touchscreen with Car Play and Android Auto, speed sensing door locks, air purifier, keyless entry and a whole host of other features as well.

The Venue N-Line will be offered as a premium product and will sit as the top spec trim. Hyundai aims to target a younger and a wider audience with the Venue N-Line. While the standard Venue takes on the likes of the Vitara Brezza, the EcoSport and the XUV300, the Venue N-Line could very well take on SUVs from a segment higher as well.
