The Venue is offered in a number of engine and transmission options. There are two petrol engines – the 1.2L, naturally aspirated, 4-cylinder Kappa engine that comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and there’s a new 1.0L, turbocharged, 3-cylinder petrol engine that comes mate to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT. The former produces 83 bhp and 115 Nm of torque while the latter makes 120 bhp and 172 Nm of torque.
There is also a diesel engine – a 1.4L, naturally aspirated, 4-cylinder diesel engine that churns out 90 bhp and 220 Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Such are the claimed fuel economy figures of each of the engines along with the transmission options :

So how does it really stack up against its rivals, them being the Ford EcoSport, the Tata Nexon, the Mahindra XUV300 and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza? With the naturally aspirated petrol engine and manual gearbox, the Venue has the best fuel economy in the segment, edging ahead of the Ecosport by a margin. Even for the turbocharged petrol engine with manual gearbox – which only the Ford offers as for competition – the Venue is still better than the Ecosport.

As for the diesel comparison, all cars in the segment come with a naturally aspirated diesel engine paired with a manual gearbox. In fact, the Vitara Brezza comes only in a diesel variant. However, in this case, the Venue is not the most fuel efficient in the segment as that credit still goes to the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza at 24.3 kmpl. Still, the Venue is not far behind and fares better than the rest of the competition.
