The Hyundai Venue is proving to be extremely popular in the segment with over 45,000 bookings already. The best selling Maruti Brezza seems to be under some real threat.
Hyundai quite literally shook the segment with the launch of Venue in the compact-SUV segment. It was launched at an introductory price of Rs. 6.50 lakhs, ex-showroom on May 21 and when the bookings commenced, it recorded 2,000 bookings on the very first day. The bookings for the Hyundai Venue have now crossed the 45,000 mark. In fact, the Venue is proving to be so popular that the best selling Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is a little worried right now.
Hyundai had received over 20,000 bookings by the end of May, just within 10 days of the launch of the vehicle. Some variants of the Venue even saw a waiting period of upto two months. By June 21, Hyundai celebrated one month anniversary of the Venue with the delivery of 1,000 units of the Venue.
Hyundai Motors India National Sales Head, Vikas Jain said, “The SUV segment has continued to do well despite the slowing market demands. The newly launched Venue — India’s first fully connected SUV has been designed to exceed the rising aspirations of today’s millennial customers. Hyundai Venue with its commanding road presence, robust stance and BlueLink connected features, has created a new excitement in the market. Venue has received an overwhelming response with over 45,000 bookings and out of the cars delivered, over 55 per cent customers are preferring the BlueLink-enabled variant.”
Hyundai Venue is available with a total of three engine options – two petrol and one diesel engine. There’s a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that churns out 82 bhp and 115 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 1.4-litre turbocharged diesel motor makes 89 bhp with 200Nm of peak torque and is mated to 6-speed manual transmission. There’s also a new top-of-the-line 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 120 bhp with a peak torque of 172 Nm. It comes with a 7-speed DCT.

One of the primary reasons why the Venue is receiving so many bookings is because its perhaps the most feature loaded in the segment. It gets projector headlamps with LED DRLs, projector fog lamps, LED tail lamps with a crystal effect and diamond-cut alloy wheels. On the inside, it gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto as connectivity features. It also gets voice recognition, electric sunroof, wireless charging, cruise control, and even a air purifier. And then there’s the BlueLink system with its own conveniences and functionality.

The Hyundai Venue is priced between Rs 6.50 lakh to Rs 11.10 lakh, ex-showroom. It takes on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and the Ford EcoSport. In fact, Maruti Suzuki got so worried about the success of the Venue, that they have launched a new variant of the Brezza along with new warranty programmes just to keep it competitive. And this space is only going to get more crowded by the day.
