Hyundai Styx is going to measure under 4-meters in length and hence is going to compete against the likes of Vitara Brezza, Nexon, EcoSport and the XUV300.
For Hyundai, the Creta has been currently holding the flag and holding it high in the compact utility vehicle segment in India. It has been the undisputed leader in its segment thanks to its SUV-ish proportions, an impressive feature list along with a commendable ride quality. That said, Hyundai still does not have a contender in a segment below the one of the Creta i.e. the one of sub-compact SUVs which clearly has more demand in comparison to the one in which the Creta stands.
At the 2016 Auto Expo, Hyundai has showcased the Carlino concept which raised our hopes that their might be a sub-4-meter utility vehicle in the automakers pipeline. However, Hyundai took its own sweet time in the development of this SUV and after almost three years since the concept made its debut, the automaker is finally going to introduce the same in our country and abroad a sub-compact SUV which is likely to go by the name of ‘Styx’.

The Hyundai Styx has been spotted testing on the Indian roads a number of times lately. Through these potting we can clearly make out that the production version of the Carlino is more in-line with the Creta than it is with the concept that we saw at the 2018 Auto Expo. A number of reports claim that the Styx will be based on the same platform as that of the Hyundai i20.
The engine line-up of the Hyundai Styx is likely to include a 1.2-litre, turbocharged petrol engine capable of producing close to 120 BHP of power. In addition to this, this compact utility vehicle is also going to come with a 1.4-litre diesel engine. The later is likely to be the same unit which currently performs its duties on the base variants of the Creta.

Transmission options will include either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Hyundai Styx is also going to get an automatic gearbox in its line-up. However, this two-pedal technology is not going to be a torque converter unit but and automated manual transmission (AMT).
Being a Hyundai, the feature list of the Styx is likely to be quite extensive especially on the top-spec variants. Creature comforts such as LED projector headlamps, automatic climate control, an electric sunroof. leather-wrapped steering wheel and upholstery, a touchscreen infotainment system are possible inclusions.
