Hyundai is soon going to launch an all-new sub-4-meter compact SUV in the Indian market. This vehicle is going to compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and the Tata Nexon. Given the moniker of Venue, this all-new urban SUV will be revealed to the public, in India on the 17th of April this year. Consequently, expect the same to launch in our country during the month of May this year.
Hyundai Venue India- Launch Date
It was earlier being said that the Hyundai Compact SUV launch will take place only around the end of this decade. However, Hyundai India has said it plans to launch the Venue by mid-2019. Hyundai was reportedly working on an MPV for India based on the Hexa Space concept. However, the recent slump is MPV sales seems to have prompted a shift in focus towards SUVs/crossovers.

Hyundai Venue- Price in India
In all likelihood, the Hyundai Compact SUV will go on sale with an aggressive price tag. Expect the entry-level model to have a starting price of roughly INR 7.5 lakh. The top-end Diesel variant could cost a little north of INR 10.5 lakh.

Hyundai Venue- Engine Specifications
Powering the new Hyundai compact SUV in India might be the same engines that power the Elite i20. This means that the Venue will come with a 1.2 litre Kappa VTVT Normally Aspirated petrol and a 1.4 litre U2 CRDi Turbocharged Diesel engine. The 1.2 Petrol offers a max. power of 82 bhp and a peak torque of 114.7 Nm @ 4,000 rpm. Whereas, the 1.4 Diesel oil burner pumps out a max. power of 88.7 bhp and a peak torque of 220 Nm. Transmission options could include 6-Speed Manual and 4-Speed Auto units.

Also on the cards could be a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. However, nothing’s official about this small capacity petrol motor. That said, by the time the compact SUV arrives, this new engine could already be powering certain Hyundai models in India. We won’t be surprised if the production-spec Hyundai Compact SUV gets 1.0-litre turbo petrol with an optional 7-speed dual clutch automatic.

Though there are still no concrete details regarding the specifications of the Venue, we expect the petrol derivative of this urban soft-roader to promise a fuel-efficiency figure of around 17-18 km/l. While we estimate the diesel derivative of this vehicle to promise a fuel-efficiency figure of 20-22 km/l.

The sides are characterized by huge chunky wheel arches, tall boy design, large wheels and muscular body lines. There is also a side body cladding running all across. The rear gets chunky and hexagonal tail lamps with a subtle side sweep, small and high tailgate glass, sporty-dual tone finish bumper and rear scuff plates. The rear of the Venue looks very similar to the Jeep Renegade small SUV, especially bits like the tail lamps and rear windshield.

The Venue is going to retail under the same variant nomenclature as the Creta. Hence, it will go on sale in a total of 6 different variants. These will be E, E+, S, SX, SX (Dual-Tone) and SX (O). However, if Hyundai decides to sell this SUV under the variant nomenclature as that of the i20, then it will retail under Era, Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O).

It is too early to comment on the number and the options of colour schemes under which this sub-4-meter SUV is going to retail in. However, we can still speculate that it is going to get these basic colours from the pallet such as Orange, Grey, Silver, Red, Black and White.
