Hyundai and Tata Motors have been fighting it out on the monthly sales charts for a long time now. Led by Maruti Suzuki, the second place has been occupies by Hyundai for decades now. However, in recent times, the Indian auto giant, Tata Motors, has been clipping on the heels of the Korean auto major. In fact, in February 2024, Tata Motors overtook Hyundai in monthly sales. But things have gone back to normal in March 2024, as Hyundai came back strong. The new Creta has been a major contributor to this number.

Hyundai Reclaims its No. 2 Spot from Tata Motors
In March 2024, the Korean giant sold 53,001 units, which was a rise of 5% (50,600) in comparison to the same month last year. This is higher than what Tata Motors sold in March 2024 (50,297). Interestingly, in February 2024, Hyundai managed to sell 50,201 units, whereas Tata Motors sold 51,321 units. Hence, the Indian carmaker overtook Hyundai by a slight margin. We must know that the sales of Tata Motors consist of vehicles from Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited. In fact, 6,738 units out of the total were a contribution from the EVs. Hence, even the EV segment plays a crucial role in the overall volumes of the Indian carmaker.

It is intriguing to see this healthy competition in the market. Both these carmakers have extensive portfolios with tons of vehicles from entry-level cars to high-end SUVs. Hence, if people want to associate themselves with either of these companies, there are products which cater to all sorts of potential buyers. That is the best part about both these companies and a major reason for their continued success.
