The Hyundai QXI sub-4-meter compact SUV is going to launch in India with two petrol and one diesel engine with a dual-clutch gearbox.
Details regarding the engine and transmission options of Hyundai’s all-new sub-4-meter compact SUV are out. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza challenger which is set to launch in India this year is going to come with two petrol and one diesel engine option. The interesting thing to note here is that in addition to having a manual gearbox in its portfolio, it will also get a dual-clutch option in its portfolio.
According to a report published in Autocar India, the Hyundai’s new sub-4-meter SUV, codenamed as the QXI is going to get a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine which is going to generate 100 BHP of power. In addition to this, it will also get a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder petrol and a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine. The latter two will be borrowed from the Verna.

The 1.4-litre petrol and diesel engines will be on offer with a 6-speed manual gearbox. However, the 1.0-litre engine will be paired to a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The later is likely to be featured only in the top-spec, feature loaded variants of the Hyundai QXI SUV.
Talking about features. the Hyundai QXI is going to be loaded right-up-to-the-brim. It is likely to get creature comforts such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a sunroof, disk brakes on all wheels and possibly, leather upholstery.

In terms of prices, the QXI will sit below the Creta in Hyundai portfolio. However, there could be a little bit of overlapping when it comes to the former’s top-end variants and the latter’s base trims.
In terms of its design, the Hyundai QXI is going to follow the same language as we have seen on all recent Hyundai models. Up-front the SUV is going to come with a split LED DRL set-up with the headlamps placed underneath the same. Expect the prices to fall in-between the range of INR 8 lakh to INR 11 lakh.
