Hyundai Kona EV comes in a battery pack of 39.2kWh and offers a driving range of 452 km on a single charge.
Hyundai launched the first electric SUV on Indian shores in July 2019. And right now the sales for August has set a new record for Hyundai as sales for Kona EV stands at 88 units. Mind you, the company set a target of 50 deliveries per month.
Hyundai Kona EV is it’s first in its segment and that is why the Korean manufacturer has been enjoying its monthly sales of August. The nearest competition is the upcoming MG eZS which will launch in the early 2020 and will see a similar price tag of around Rs 24 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
With the government bringing in tax reduction for electric vehicles, the main focus is to bring electrification in and also curb the pollution. Being the first ever eSUV on Indian shores, the vehicle is sure enjoying its taste of success.

Being powered by a 39.2 kWh battery pack, the eSUV offers a decent range of 452 km. Globally, a powerful 64 kWh option is also available but that will not come to Indian shores by any time now. The former battery option gets liquid cooling technology.
The smaller 39.2kWH battery produces 134 bhp along with a peak torque of 395 Nm. The Kona comes to India via the CKD route and then will be assembled here in India. Hyundai has invested heavily in making the Kona a viable alternative to traditional cars here in the Indian market. It can do 0-100 km/h sprint in just 9.7 seconds.
Hyundai Kona takes 57 minutes to charge from 0-80% with a fast charger, and a normal charger 6 hours for the same. The charging port comes on the front grille, for the convenience of the driver.
As for the features, the eSUV gets an electric sunroof, front ventilated and heated seats, 10-way power adjustable driver seat with lumbar support, Electronic parking brake, button type shift by wire technology and among others.

It also gets leather seats, digital instrument cluster, 17.7cm touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Voice Recognition as connectivity features. Bi-Function LED headlamps, steering mounted audio controls are also some of the premium features.
Safety features onboard include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, VSM, Hill Assist Control, Rear parking Camera with Dynamic Guidelines, Tire Pressure Monitoring System and All Disc Brakes.
