Recycled Materials
Quite obviously, the electric powertrain of the IONIQ 5 is way greener than any IC engine on the face of the planet but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The entire cabin makes for a case study when it comes to the usage of environment-friendly materials whilst maintaining an upmarket ambiance expected from a premium crossover. For instance, the seats come clad in eco-processed leather that is made from plant extracts and recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate or PET. This eco-processed leather is dyed and treated with plant oil extractions from flaxseed. The headliner and carpet are made from fibres using corn, wood, poly yarns and sugarcane. The seat and door pad fabric is made from materials obtained from recycling of 32 plastic bottles.
Moreover, the dashboard, switchgear, steering wheel and door panels have been coated in a bio paint. Essentially, the carmaker has used a polyurethane paint composed of oils made from rape flowers and corn. Further enhancing the overall feel of the cabin is the usage of a special recyclable Paperette that feels like Korean paper, “Hanji”. The choice of materials used to create the cabin of this world-class BEV SUV reflects how the manufacturer is moving towards an eco-conscious and futuristic mobility solution with a minimal environmental impact. Trust us, guilt-free indulgence never felt better!

The V2L ports are located under the second-row seats as well as at the charging port on the car’s exterior. The outside port provides power even when the vehicle is turned off.
