The latter narrates the entire tale of how he almost purchased the Punch after selling his i20. He was going to the Tata dealership to book the Punch. But then, the Hyundai officials called him informing that an Exter was in transit and he could get the delivery within a couple of days. Now, the owner had already test-drove both these cars. But the long waiting period on the Exter pushed him toward the Punch. Having heard this news, he instantly decided to opt for the Exter.

He mentions that he was not satisfied with the performance of Punch. Particularly, the BS Phase 1 cars are atrocious to drive. But the Phase 2 cars are still better. In comparison, though, the man found the Exter to be much more engaging and smooth. He mentions that he specifically loves the paddle shifters on offer with this AMT model of the Exter. It enhances the convenience a lot. Moreover, he also says that the cabin feel and layout of the Exter feel much more luxurious than that of the Punch. All in all, he liked the customer service experience of Tata Motors slightly better.

The former engine can be paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or an AMT gearbox, while the latter is exclusively offered with a manual gearbox. The Exter boasts an impressive fuel efficiency rating of 19.2 km/l. As for the pricing, the ex-showroom costs for the Exter range from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.

On the other hand, the Tata Punch has a 1.2-litre petrol engine that generates a peak power of 88 PS and a torque of 115 Nm. The transmission duties can be handled by either a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic. The CNG trims outputs a healthy 703 hp and 103 Nm of peak power and torque. Remarkably, it offers a mileage of 20.09 km/l. The ex-showroom prices for the Punch range from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9.52 lakh.
