Hyundai offers a slightly more performance-focused version of the regular i20 called the i20 N-Line and it is due for a facelift.
The upcoming facelift version of the Hyundai i20 N-Line has been spotted testing recently. i20, in its regular iteration, is one of the most popular premium hatchbacks in the country. It has been a prominent product in the space for a long time now. To cater to adventure enthusiasts, Hyundai launched the slightly performance-focused version of the hatchback in 2021. In addition to some aesthetic modifications, it has a powerful turbo petrol engine and slightly more calibrated mechanicals to offer great handling and driving dynamics.

These images were shared with us by one of our readers who prefers to stay anonymous. They have captured the side profile of the hot hatch that has been camouflaged from the rear. While the overall silhouette looks quite similar to the existing model, there are subtle changes to distinguish the two. Looking at it from this side angle, the new alloy wheel design is easy to spot. Furthermore, there are sporty red accents on the body that look aggressive. Apart from that, the facelift model is expected to get slightly tweaked front and rear bumpers and some design elements. On the inside, the contrasting stitching will let the occupants know that they are sitting in the meaner version of the i20.

Specs
We don’t expect the facelift model to come with any changes when it comes to the powertrain. Therefore, it would still get a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that develops 120 PS and 172 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine comes mated to either an iMT (clutch-less manual) or a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission. This engine is designed specifically for driving enthusiasts enabling brisk acceleration and decent handling characteristics.

What We Think
Hyundai is ensuring that it caters to just about every kind of customer in our market. From the upcoming micro SUV (Exter) to the premium SUV (Tucson) and everything in between, the second-largest carmaker in the country is doing everything in its power to stay at the second spot on the sales charts. The competition and pressure from other carmakers like Tata Motors is quite challenging. Although the i20 N-Line is not your everyday product that will sell extensively, Hyundai still wants to offer it to cater to a niche.
