Hyundai has just teased the i20 N Line, which will be the performance-based version of the hatch. They are considering N Line cars for the Indian market.
Hyundai has put out a small teaser of its upcoming i20 N Line version. Looks like it was going to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, but that was cancelled. It is based on the recently unveiled i20 but with more aggressive styling bits.
Going by the teaser, the Hyundai i20 N Line gets bigger wheels with sporty alloys, more aggressive front and rear bumper, sharper headlamp design, slightly latter bonnet and a rear roof spoiler. Also, you can see the fiery red line flowing just below the door panels.
Inside the cabin, there would not be many changes. Possibly, it could get an upholstery design with red accents, N Line badging on the dashboard and different performance-spec pedals. The new generation i20 has already received a lot of interior refreshments.

Under the hood, the Hyundai i20 N Line is expected to pack a 1.6 Litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The engine is expected to produce around 200 BHP of power. Foreign media reports suggest that the existing 1.0 Litre turbo-petrol motor could get an additional cylinder too. However, the power figures will be in the 200 BHP region, irrespective of the engine.
In comparison, the Polo GTI produces 189 BHP with its 1.6 Litre turbo-petrol engine. The Cooper S gets a 2.0 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that also produces 190 BHP. So, the i20 N Line will fall into the premium hot hatch category. Both its competitors are priced around Rs 30 Lakhs.
Lastly, the suspension, braking and the handling on the N Line will be different from the regular i20. It will be more performance-focused. The engine will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox with short gear ratios.
Talking about the new i20, it gets a complete makeover with new engines, major styling changes and more features. For starters, it gets a new 1.0 Litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine from Aura and Nios Turbo. The engine should produce around 100 BHP and 172 Nm of peak torque. i20 also gets a new 1.5 Litre four-cylinder diesel engine, producing 99 BHP.
