This Hyundai i20 had a rough day as its clutch was damaged and not by the owner. This time, it was the fault of Mumbai’s infamous potholes injected roads.
Twitter is filled with all the memes and images of the roads of Mumbai. Every monsoon, this is a regular occurence. The city and its infamous roads create a havoc for people driving their cars or even riding their two wheelers. Not to mention the fact but these potholes have taken several lives of people who were on their two-wheelers.
This time the victim is a Hyundai i20. The owner was on his way to work, braving through the potholes. However, at one fine point, the car went too deep and got a heavy damage onboard. His entire clutch system was damaged which costed him Rs 40,000! Either the suspension setup goes off or its the clutch pipes.

The owner has taken it to Twitter, tagging Mumbai Government and even the Chief Minister of the State. He has also uploaded the receipt of the bill which he got from the service center. If a clutch pad is damaged, the cost is not this much, probably just around Rs 10,000 for this car. But here, since the underbody has been damaged the whole system will need a change.
Even if you are at a low speed, you cannot avoid the might of potholes. Instead, you can try going from the side if the road permits or just assume that you are off-roading and your speed needs to be just about 5-10 km/hr. We have had several cases where the tires have burst or the suspension setup has received a major damage.
More news on the Hyundai i20 front, the new generation is expected to debut towards the festive season this year. It has already been spied testing in India extensively, but with a camouflage. The new generation upgrade will bring new engines, a design makeover and many more premium segment first features.
