The battle of crossovers. Hardly, there are main 3 crossovers in India. These include Hyundai i20 Active, Toyota Etios Cross and the new Ford Freestyle. However, latest reports suggest that the Freestyle has outsold i20 Active and Toyota Etios Cross, after selling more than the other two models.
The New Ford Freestyle was launched this year. It looked similar to Figo but was built as a crossover hatchback. It gets some SUV type feeling with its high ground clearance and the body design. Whereas, the other crossover, Hyundai i20 Facelift was launched with the last generation i20. Recent reports by Cartoq suggest that the Freestyle outsells Hyundai i20 Active and Toyota Etios Cross combined together. With its launch and 3000+ booking in May, it overtook the i20 Active in terms of units sold. The crossover segment is very limited in India, which currently includes these three cars only. As per the reports from Cartoq, the new Ford Freestyle has sold around 3,027 units. The i20 Active stood at 1,069 units and the Etios Cross at a meagre 42 units. The Etios Cross is not much preferred, because of Toyota’s main focus on the sedans and upcoming SUVs. Also, Freestyle is priced way too less than both the other cars. The Ford hatchback is available in petrol and diesel and is priced starting from Rs 5.09 Lakhs to Rs 6.94 Lakhs for the petrol engine and Rs 6.09 Lakhs to Rs 7.89 Lakhs for the diesel engine(ex-showroom).

The diesel engine is a 1.5 Litre Motor which produces 100 BHP worth of power and 215 Nm worth of torque. The 1.4 Litre CRDi diesel engine produces 90 BHP worth of power and 210 Nm worth of torque. Lastly, the Etios Cross gets a 1.2 Litre Petrol engine that produces the least of all, 80 BHP worth of power and 104 Nm worth of torque. As you can see, the prices of the Freestyle are lower than both the cars, plus it offers more power than the both too. Moreover, the crossover segment is not in much demand, because the bulky body does not appeal to some. Ford India currently has 2 main products in its lineup, the new Ford Freestyle and the Ford Ecosport. Also, the facelift versions of Figo and Aspire are expected to come this year.’
