Hyundai showcased the HB20 R-Spec Concept at the Salão do Automóvel in Sao Paulo, Brazil as a peek into the future of the HB20 series sold in Brazil which spawns the HB20 hatchback, HB20S sedan and HB20X cross version of the hatch. Created as a showcar, the HB20 based R-Spec version points at the design possibilities of future HB20 as well as R-Spec version of other cars from Hyundai.
The basic design of the concept remains unchanged though specific design elements get major changes.
- Projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights
- Large hexagonal grille with R-Spec badging
- Matte blue paint
- Widened fenders
- 17 inch alloys
- Carbon fibre rear spoiler
- Carbon fibre Shark fin antenna
- LED tail lamps
- Redesigned rear bumper with air intakes with silver finish
- Dual exhausts
The blue colour scheme continues inside as well
- Alcantara fabric for seats with blue stitching and detailing
- Blue highlights for the AC vents and steering
- Flat bottomed steering
The HB20 R-Spec has been showcased to gauge public response with no current marketing plans. Hyundai will incorporate ideas and features from this concept car into it’s future models.
This concept gives us a sneak peek into the design language of future cars from Hyundai. We will not be surprised to see a 2016 Hyundai i20 model based on this concept. It does deviate from the ongoing curvy and rounded sculptures which are used in the present design of the Hyundai Fluidic series. The new Elite i20 has broken the barriers and has got some sharp lines in design of the car.
The R-Spec concept showcases a lot of sharp lines, triangles, hexagons and a sharper design language which looks very sporty. This is a welcome evolution of the fluidic design (probably 3.0). Stay tuned to Car Blog India for updates.
