There are talks of Hyundai introducing the 1.0L, turbo-petrol engine from the Venue in Grand i10 Nios very soon but it could come in a different state of tune.
Hyundai recently launched the Grand i10 Nios in the country with the option of a 1.2L, petrol and diesel engines. Now, there are talks of Hyundai introducing the 1.0L, turbo-petrol in Grand i10 Nios. And this could be launched in this year itself. The 1.0L, turbo-petrol engine was introduced with the Venue and it produces 120 bhp in the SUV.
If the Grand i10 Nios comes with the 1.0L, turbo-petrol engine, in will come only in the top tow variants. Hyundai charges a premium of about Rs. 1 lakh for the 1.0L, turbo-petrol engine over the 1.2L, naturally aspirated engine. The price of the Grand i10 Nios could then shoot up to Rs. 7.5-8 lakhs, and it will then rival the likes of the Tata Tiago JTP, Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS and the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI.
The Grand i10 Nios turbo-petrol is expected to debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show as the third-gen Euro Spec i10. Hyundai had earlier teased a sketch of the Euro-spec i10 and while it looked quite similar to its Indian sibling, the design gets some funkier elements. A heavily camouflaged i10 with some sporty elements – likely to be an N line variant – was also spotted testing in Europe.

From what could be made out inspite of the camouflage, the spotted test mule was sporting a large cascade grille and different LED elements with larger airdams in the front bumpers. It was also seen wearing sporty alloy rims and even had a double-barrel exhaust setup at the rear. Chances are that this i10 N Line variant could actually be powered by the 1.0L, turbo-petrol engine.

The 1.0L, turbo-petrol engine in the Grand i10 Nios will definitely come in a different state of tune than the 120 bhp and 172Nm of torque that it delivers in the Venue. But it might feature the same 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT transmission as the Venue. The car will also see updates to the brakes and suspension setup for a more performance-oriented experience.
