Just like the predecessor, Hyundai will offer a CNG variant for the new Grand i10 Nios in the Magna trim and it is expected to be priced similar to the Grand i10 CNG.
When Hyundai launched the Grand i10 Nios a couple of weeks ago, they did not introduce a CNG variant for the Nios right from launch. Many were anticipating a CNG variant of the Nios as its predecessor, the Grand i10 came with a factory fitted kit. However, we now know that Hyundai is all set to introduce a CNG variant of the Grand i10 Nios very soon indeed.
Just like its predecessor, the Grand i10 Nios CNG is expected to be offered in the ‘Magna’ variant. The Nios CNG is also expected to bear similar power and torque figures as the previous Grand i10 CNG. Currently, Hyundai offers the Grand i10 Prime and the Xcent Prime equipped with CNG kit to taxi fleet operator. Meanwhile, the Santro and the Grand i10 with CNG in the Magna trim is available for private buyers.
CNG is growing to be an increasingly viable option as carmakers are pushing for greener fuel and stricter upcoming emission and CAFE norms. Maruti Suzuki really enjoys a monopoly here in the CNG category as they have a dedicated lineup of CNG cars with four hatchbacks and one MPV. Now, Hyundai is also planning to have all its hatchbacks with a CNG variant expect for the Elite i20 for personal use to customers.

Currently, the Grand i10 Nios continues with the same engines as is found in the regular Grand i10. That means it gets the 1.2L petrol and diesel engines. The 1.2L petrol engine produces 83 bhp and 114Nm of torque. The 1.2L diesel engine produces 75 bhp and 190Nm of torque. Both engines will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard and there will also be the option of the 5-speed AMT found in the Santro.
