Hyundai Motors India has been teasing the new micro SUV christened Exter that will challenge the domination of Tata Punch in our market.
This digital rendition of Hyundai Exter and Tata Punch micro SUVs parked alongside each other in the virtual realm is quite interesting. Exter is slated to be Hyundai’s next small SUV that aims to dethrone the mighty Tata Punch from the top of the sales chart in this segment. Punch, on the back of attractive looks, a 5-star safety rating at Global NCAP, modern features and SUV stance, has captured the hearts and minds of buyers ever since its launch. Recognizing the opportunity, Hyundai will now launch its Exter to rival the former.

Hyundai Exter Next to Tata Punch
The avatars have been illustrated by Bagrawala Designs on YouTube. The visuals neatly capture the two micro SUVs side by side. On the front, Exter carries the latest design language from the Korean car giant. In fact, the slightly rectangular LED DRL cluster is reminiscent of the iconic IONIQ 5 electric crossover. The large headlamp units look too big, there is a large grille between them, the sharp crease at the end of the bonnet lends a premium feel, the skid plate accentuates the rugged vibe, the alloy wheels are elegant, there are roof rails, the tail section is inspired by Venue with connected LED light bar with large reflector lamps on the bumper.

On the other hand, Punch has the typical modern look as seen on the other SUVs from the Indian auto giant. This means that it has LED DRLs on the bonnet, a main headlamp cluster on the bumper, a large grille section with a chunky chrome bar, grey skid plate, stylish alloys, black side pillars, dual-tone roof, prominent side body cladding, wrap-around taillamps, upright rear bumper accentuating the adventurous exterior.

All in all, the design of the Exter certainly feels slightly upmarket compared to the Punch. This is due to the fact that Exter borrows enticing elements from other Hyundais that are modern and successful like the IONIQ 5 and Venue. The digital artist has been able to showcase this quite well. We will still have to wait to get a glimpse of the final production-ready model but the official teasers from the Korean carmaker and such digital renditions look promising.
