Slated to launch later today, the Hyundai Exter is a micro-SUV that will go on to rival the likes of Tata Punch and Maruti Ignis
Hyundai has tried to capture the imagination of the performance enthusiasts among Indian car buyers with its N-Line branded cars. Available on the i20 and the Venue, the N-Line versions are decidedly sportier with sharper aesthetics, re-tuned suspension, sports exhaust and punchy engines. The i20 N Line, for instance, has even been compared with the VW Polo GT TSI due to its aggressive styling and performance-focused upgrades. Now, envisioning the Hyundai Exter with i20 N Line-like updates, a digital artist has come up with a rather unique concept.

Hyundai Exter N-Line Styling Upgrades
First and foremost, the Hyundai Exter N Line receives a distinct and bold exterior styling kit. Taking inspiration from the i20 N Line, the concept features an aggressive front fascia with a larger grille, thereby giving it a sportier and more menacing look. The headlights receive sleeker LED elements, while the bumper is new and looks really cool.
Moving along the side of the vehicle, there are aerodynamic enhancements such as side skirts and sculpted lines that add a sense of dynamism to the overall design. Even the wheels are new and seem to be larger. Additionally, safely expect ample N Line branding on various panels. At the rear, the Hyundai Exter N-Line has a sporty bumper with integrated diffusers and a dual exhaust system. This projects a more aggressive and performance-focused stance. A roof-mounted spoiler further enhances the visual appeal while giving a sporty touch.

Inside, this concept, typical to N-Line vehicles, would likely receive a black colour theme with red accents. Safely expect the N-Line branding to be strewn around the cabin. Also, the steering wheel could be sportier than that of the standard model. This will ensure better grip. In fact, the car could even offer paddle shifters. Aluminum or carbon fiber trim accents could be added to further enhance the interior’s sporty ambiance.

Specifications
Under the hood, the N Line range typically comes with slightly more potent engines. The standard Exter gets a 1.2-litre VTVT naturally-aspirated petrol engine that makes 83 PS and 113.8 Nm. In the Bi-Fuel CNG format, the motor offers only 69 PS and 95.2 Nm. However, the N-Line version, if and when it’s out, is likely to get the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol unit which was briefly available on the Grand i10 Nios. This motor produces 100bhp and 172Nm. The same engine was even available on the Aura. The motor works in tandem with a 5-speed manual gearbox that has different ratios from the one available with the 1.2-litre unit.

What We Think
The digital concept of Hyundai Exter N-Line seen above is merely a figment of artist’s impression. However, a 1.0-litre turbo version should actually help the new new micro SUV take on the Citroen C3 Turbo. It will even give the new model an huge advantage over the rather lacklustrous Tata Punch. Moreover, the visual updates for the N-Line package easily make for a great styling choice for car enthusiasts. All in all, we think that the Exter N-Line has what it takes to bring more Indian car buyers under the N-Line umbrella.
