The new powerful Kappa engine makes it one of the most powerful cars in its segment and also one of the most fuel-efficient. The addition of the new engine promises better performance and fuel-efficiency thanks to the weight reduction and better engine components, the NVH levels would also be lower in the new variant. Competition for the car includes the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Tata Nano, Chevrolet Spark, Datsun Go and the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10.

Updated on 23rd April 2014
Hyundai dealers have started taking bookings of Hyundai Eon 1.0 which is powered by a 1-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine. The more powerful version of the Eon will go on sale in May 2014 in India with will be available only in one trim level, Magna. The 1.0 litre engine of the new more powerful Eon will help it compete with the likes of Alto K10, Datsun Go and Chevrolet Spark which come with more powerful engines.
There is a set of small car buyers who prefer opting for larger engine capacities. More powerful engines come in handy when you have to carry more people around or you have to drive frequently in more challenging terrains like hills and high speed expressways where a more powerful engine is always handy.
In the small car segment in Rs. 2 Lakhs to Rs. 4 Lakhs price bracket, Eon is anyways the best offering when it comes to features and styling. With a more powerful engine under the hood, the Eon will be further more attractive. The 1 litre variant will not be offered with multiple trim levels, rather with one Magna variant to keep the number of variants low. Also the buyers opting for larger engine capacity anyways prefer higher end trims, so Hyundai has taken a wise decision here with the limited trim levels for the 1 litre variant.
Features And Specifications
Talking about the features which will be present in the Hyundai Eon 1.0 Magna, it will include:
- Air conditioner with heating
- Power steering
- Front power windows
- Engine immobilizer
- Central locking
- Keyless entry with remote
- 13 inch wheels
- Full wheel covers
However the integrated audio system will not be available on this variant. Talking of the engine and performance, it gets the European i10’s engine with a 3 cylinder configuration which puts out a peak power of around 65 BHP and peak torque of around 100 Nm. Interestingly, there will not be any major cosmetic changes compared to the ongoing 800 CC variant of Eon.
Pricing and availability
The Hyudnai Eon 1.0 Magna has been priced at Rs. 3.85 Lakhs ex-showroom Mumbai for the metallic colour version. The deliveries are expected to start in May 2014 as the bookings are already open. We will wait for the official announcement from Hyundai which should follow soon.
