Hyundai Motor India Ltd, which has been fast closing in on Maruti Suzuki on the sales charts, has given the Elite i20 a performance upgrade of sorts! Its Elite i20 now gets a more powerful engine along with a 4-Speed Automatic gearbox. This new model will compete with the likes of both the Ford Figo 1.5 Petrol and the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI. The new variant has already been listed on Hyundai India’s website. The Elite i20 Automatic price in India is INR 9.02 lakhs. The Hyundai Elite i20 Automatic is powered by a 1.4-litre Petrol engine. Also, the top-end trims of the i20 and i20 Active now get 6 airbags!

The new Elite i20 Automatic receives a 4-Speed Automatic transmission. This is a conventional torque converter unit. This 4-speed Transmission could be only slightly fuel-sapping. However, given the bigger engine, the upcoming Hyundai Elite i20 Automatic is sure to be a lot more fun to drive. The new 1.4-litre petrol motor for i20 Automatic has a max. power of 100 PS @ 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 132 Nm @ 4000 RPM. The Hyundai Elite i20 Automatic could have a true top speed of 170 KMPH.

The torque converter automatic transmission won’t be as efficient as Dual Clutch units. Hence, we don’t expect the new i20 Automatic to have a claimed fuel mileage of more than 17 kpl. Currently, the petrol variants with the 5-speed manual transmission return 18.6 kpl overall according to official figures.

Hyundai Elite i20 1.4 Magna AT gets a 4-speed Automatic transmission and a new 1.4 L petrol motor. This engine churns out 100 PS @ 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 132 Nm @4000 RPM. This should help boost the overall performance of the Elite i20. However, the mileage could be about 17 kpl only. Currently, the petrol i20 comes with a 5-speed manual transmission. Apart from the addition of the new gearbox, the rest of the specifications remain similar to the Elite i20 models currently on sale.
