Hyundai Alcazar became the 10 Millionth car to roll off the production line at HMIL’s Sriperumbudur-based facility off Chennai. The occasion was graced by Thiru MK Stalin, Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and Mr. S S Kim, MD & CEO, HMIL at the rollout of 10 millionth car
Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), India’s second-largest selling car manufacturer, and the largest exporter since inception has announced the rollout of 10 million cars from its manufacturing plant based out of Sriperumbudur near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. A quick calculation shows that the carmaker has produced more than 1095 cars every day since production commenced 25 years ago. In the words of the carmaker, this production milestone comes at the back of “smart manufacturing and re-affirms Hyundai’s commitment towards making India Self Reliant.” In a small commemorative ceremony that took place at the manufacturing facility, Thiru. M.K.Stalin, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu signed on the bonnet of the Hyundai Alcazar that helped the carmaker step into the 1 crore production club.

At the back of the rollout of the 10 millionth car, Hyundai Motor India Ltd also announced its community-centric social value initiatives for Tamil Nadu. These include
- Inauguration of Dream Village Project 2.0 that includes the construction of Child Care Centre for benefit of 500 people annually and also the development of Community Hall with a capacity to accommodate 1500 people at Katrambakkam village in Sriperumbudur.
- Launch of Income-Generation Program (Dairy Farming) for Rural Women from 200 families in Kanchipuram district
- Donation of 5 ventilators to Government Hospitals at Kanchipuram
- Support to a Self-Help Group (SHG) for development of mobile catering service at Vallakottai Village

Hyundai Motor India Ltd achieved the 1 million sales milestone in 7 years and 6 months since inception. The 5 million mark was hit by 2013 and 6 million milestone was achieved in 2015. The carmaker reached the 9 million production mark in 2019 but the ongoing health crisis and the resultant lockdown led to the carmaker taking another 1 year and 9 months to reach the 10 million milestone. Also, last year, the company surpassed the 3 million vehicle export milestone in early 2020. Also, it announced ‘Click to Buy’ – India’s first automobile end to end online platform for car buying. Currently, HMIL offers a network of 1154 sales outlets and 1295 service centres across 862 cities in the country.
