Hyosung Motors has been present in India since it launched the Comet in partnership with Kinetic. However, the company did not make its mark then due to its product pricing, lack of service facilities and a dearth of spare parts. It again made its entry into the Indian market with its GT250R and GT650R which too failed to create the necessary impact. But after getting into partnership with DSK, Hyosung has launched six products. The GD series is also expected to hit the showrooms soon. However, the motorcycle that’s making news is the Hyosung ST7 Cruiser concept that is being showcased through internet images and videos.
Students from DSK international school have digitally rendered the ST7 Cruiser concept which resembles the Ducati Diavel. The aggressive lines across the body, low seat height, massive fuel tank give the bike a bullish appearance. The swingarm and the exhaust design dont look very practical but if there is a product model planned for next few years, then we can expect some changes here.
The ST7 is currently powered by a 678cc liquid-cooled engine that churns out 58 BHP at 8,000rpm and 57 Nm of maximum torque. With such a massive engine and its weight, the power fails to impress. Either Hyosung should go the costlier way and get a new engine in place or find a way to lose weight but retain the design.
The images of the rendered bike look profoundly interesting, if it is launched in the future at a fair price it would definitely be a head turner and must have. But if it costs the same, and has the same technical specifications as a Ducati Diavel, then it could get very interesting.
