While many ride to Ladakh on their Royal Enfield bikes, here’s a man who rode to the cold dessert all the way from Hyderabad on Honda Activa
It’s not out of ordinary to meet motorcycle enthusiasts wishing to ride to Ladakh on their Royal Enfield or other powerful motorcycles. However, every once in a while, we come across an example of pure love for road trips regardless of the vehicle one has. As per a report by Times of India, one M Dileep Kumar from Hyderabad is so fond of travelling that he can’t even engaging himself in a full-time job. No wonder, then, that, he recently did a trip to Ladakh from his town on his Honda Activa. He covered a total distance of more than 2,500 km in just 27 days by riding up to 12 hours a day.

The 30-year old even met with an accident soon after he started his road trip but there was actually nothing that could keep him from realizing his dream. The braveheart started his road trip to Ladakh on September 8 and met with an accident near Nagpur. While he didn’t get seriously hurt in the mishap, it costed him some time as his Honda Activa had to be sent for repairs. As per Kumar, the toughest part of his trip to the cold dessert was the off-road section near Tso Moriri lake. The arduous stretch of 60 km was certainly challenging for an entry-level commuter. He also told that the maximum speed he achieved during his long road trip was 100 km/hour.
During his long road trip from Hyderabad to Ladakh, Kumar slept at toll plazas and even petrol pumps. He would mostly travel around 12 hours a day but at higher altitudes, he could cover just about 250 km in a day. Still, overcoming the harsh climate conditions along with the extreme weather, he manages to complete his journey in less than a month.

Speaking about his latest road trip, he said, “I started my trip on September 8 and drove about 8-10 hours for 27 days to complete the trip. I met with a small accident in Nagpur and had to crash at a friend’s place for a night. Although I did not get injured, my Activa had to be repaired. This trip gave me the confidence to travel further. Subsequently, I went from Hyderabad to Goa on my Activa and camped there for 15 days. After this, from Hyderabad, I covered Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Goa.”
