Car’s Airbags Can Hurt You
The YouTuber has managed to take the airbag assembly out of a Maruti Suzuki car. He places it on top of a bucket at a safe distance from people. There is an electrical connection which is designed to simulate the actual signal in the case of an accident. The airbags are filled with a chemical called Sodium Azide. After receiving the signal, the chemical gets converted into Nitrogen gas which causes the airbags to deploy and inflate. All this happens within nanoseconds and prevents the passenger’s head from hitting the dashboard in time.

One can’t even fathom the speed at which the airbags get deployed. The video aims to showcase this by playing the clip in super-slow motion. The sheer force of opening the airbags causes the entire assembly to float in the air before landing up at a far distance. The plastic material around the airbag is designed to be broken by the force allowing a large balloon to be formed to cushion your head. There are holes in the airbags so that they deflate after they have solved their purpose.

However, in the case of carelessness, it could end up hurting you. For instance, some people have the tendency to keep their feet on the dashboard or put their heads on the dashboard to get a sleeping position. In such cases, the force of the airbags has the capability to actually hurt you. That is the reason why we see people with broken noses or necks. Also, airbags get deployed, mostly, only if the passengers are wearing seatbelts. Hence, make sure to wear seatbelts irrespective of whether you are sitting at the front or rear.
