It allows users to access documents like Driving licenses, Vehicle Registrations, vehicle insurance, etc. A mParivahan application automates multiple several services related to Registration Certificates and Driving Licences.

What is DigiLocker?
DigiLocker is essentially a digital locker that allows you to securely store different government-issued documents like your PAN Card, Driving Licence (DL), Voter ID, etc. You can use your Aadhaar Card to create one account and upload all your electronic documents. Alongside a mobile app, a website is also available.

DigiLocker allows you to easily access documents like your Registration Certificate (RC) and Driving Licence (DL) from anywhere. Also, since these documents are directly sourced from the official issuing authority or department like RTO, there is no doubt about their accuracy. Difference between mParivahan and DigiLocker

Using mParivahan to access your RC
The mParivahan mobile application was launched in 2017. It allows you to easily access transport services related to Registration Certificates, Driving Licences, Challans, and more. The Government of India portal also enables you to share RCs with their family members.
What would you need for accessing virtual RC using mParivahan?
- You will need your registered Mobile Number to sign up on the mParivahan app.
- Also, you will have to enter your Vehicle No., the last 5 digits of Chassis No., and the last 5 digits of Engine No. So keep these details handy before starting.
How To Access RC On mParivahan App?
- Download the NextGen mParivahan application on your smartphone from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- Now, enter the required details and complete the sign-up process. You will need to use your registered mobile number and OTP.
- Then, click on the My Virtual RC button on the home screen.
- Next, enter Vehicle No, Chassis No. (Last 5 digits) and Engine No. (Last 5 digits)
- Now, click on Add My Vehicle.
- That’s it! You will be able to see the RC details which will be saved in your App dashboard and can be viewed at any time.

Using DigiLocker to access your RC
The DigiLocker mobile application is essentially a digital document wallet. It allows you to download and keep authentic digital versions on your smartphone. This includes Aadhaar, PAN, RC, and DL. As per Section 9A of the IT Rules, 2016 by the Indian government, all issued documents in the DigiLocker system are considered legal, just like the original physical documents.
What would you need to access RC using DigiLocker?
- You will need your registered Mobile Number to sign up on the DigiLocker app.
- Additionally, keep your Vehicle No. and Chassis No.handy.

How To Access RC and DL On DigiLocker?
- Download the DigiLocker application on your smartphone via the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- Next, sign up or log in to your DigiLocker account.
- Then, click on the Search button on the bottom navigation bar and type “RC” and click on Registration of Vehicles in the search results. Alternatively, you can go to the Categories section on the Search page, and click on Transport > Ministry of Road Transport and Highways > Registration of Vehicles.
- Now, you should see your name prefilled from Aadhaar.
- Next, enter your car Registration No. and entire Chassis No. (17 characters).
- Then, click on Get Document.
- That’s it! Your Registration Certificate will be displayed on the screen. You can access this RC anytime by going to the Issued Documents section.
