How to Keep Rats and Rodents Away from Car?
This video comes from The Auto Gyani on YouTube. The vlogger shares a DIY technique to get rid of the rodents in your car. The best aspect of this method is that it doesn’t require you to purchase products worth hundreds or thousands of rupees. Moreover, the vlogger has been using this trick himself for months before showing it to the audience. He takes a naphthalene ball and some tobacco. Both these items are easily available in the market. He wraps these items in a cloth and puts it in the car where rodents might attack. This arrangement costs around Rs 10-15.

In his case, he makes 4 such tiny bags of cloth. He puts these in the boot, glovebox and 2 in the engine bay (one near the battery and one near the washer fluid). The logic behind this is that rodents like rats repel the smell of both these items. As a result, they stay away from these areas of the car. He shows that there is a large gap underneath the engine bay from where these rodents enter the car and damage the wiring. He even mentions that in one extreme case, the rodents ate away the expensive seat covers of one of his friends’ cars.

What We Think
We appreciate this inexpensive method that this vlogger shares. There are a lot of YouTubers who advertise expensive products from big companies just because they get some commission. Hence, one can never be too sure of the effectiveness of the product. But this guy uses this technique himself. Only thereafter does he suggest it to his viewers. Having said that, he mentions in his video that it is not a foolproof technique. This remedy might not work in all cases and hence you must not think of it as a silver bullet. Also, there will be some odour in the cabin. If you are not comfortable with it, you could use it less or not put it in the glove box. But he says that you must do this at your own risk.
