The Holi season is upon us as the country prepares to celebrate the traditional festival with the utmost vigour and enthusiasm
In this post, we take a look at a few key methods about how to keep your car safe during the Holi 2025. Holi is a festival of colours. People throw colours on each other. However, it doesn’t just stop there. In the heat of the moment, they end up spraying the colours and water balloons on cars, animals, pets, streets and everywhere else. That is often an unwelcome side of the festival. Nevertheless, there is little we can do about it. That is why we are listing out a few bullet points to keep in mind to at least protect your cars.
How to Keep Your Car Safe During Holi 2025?
- Use Protective Car Cover – First and foremost, it would be ideal if you could keep your vehicle covered in a body cover. That is the easiest way to ensure that during the celebration mode, people don’t get to see your car. If they can’t see it, they can’t damage it. Most people already have the body cover. Also, it would be ideal to not park your car in the open on the day of Holi. If possible, you should choose a place which is away from the main streets.
- Applying Wax – If you don’t have a body cover, another way to prepare your car to take on the abuse of the Holi celebrations is to apply the wax coating a few days prior. This additional layer on the body of the car can ensure that it repels the colours, dirt and water to a large extent. Also, it prevents colours from sticking to the paint which can be cleaned easily afterwards.
- Use Window and Door Seals – Another critical aspect to prevent the colours and water from entering the inside of the car is to ensure that the doors and windows of the car are tightly sealed. If not, colours can easily get inside the car and damage the upholstery, dashboard and other components. For extra protection, you can use tape or rubber seals along the edges of the doors.
- Cover the Interior – If you think using a tape could be too much hassle, it is also possible to simply cover the interior of the car using old clothes or newspapers. You can just wrap the seats, door panels, dashboard, centre console, etc. with these things so that even if the colours enter the cabin, they don’t spoil the car components. After the celebration, you can simply take off the newspaper and clothes and throw them away.
- Deep Cleaning – Finally, regardless of what happens on Holi, it is best to deep clean your car the day after. Either you can do it yourself if you have the space and expertise, or you could send it to the professionals. In any case, you need to take care of a few things. Always use good quality foams and shampoos for the exterior and clean thoroughly so that every ounce of the colour is removed. Thereafter, you should dry the body of the car using a microfiber cloth to ensure that the paint remains in top condition for a long period of time. Similarly, you should use a gentle brush, foam, shampoo and sponge to clean the interior. Overall, all these measures will ensure that your car doesn’t get negatively impacted by the Holi celebrations.
