In this latest video, we shall explain how you can deactivate your Paytm FASTag account and buy a new one instead. You must have read in the news that Paytm is under scrutiny from the RBI regarding non-compliance with respect to the data privacy of its users. Hence, the Paytm wallet and most services of Paytm are disabled at the moment. After March 15, 2024, the customers won’t be able to buy, fund, top up or perform any credit transaction from Paytm. That puts those car owners in a precarious situation who have purchased their FASTags from Paytm. Therefore, they need to deactivate their account and buy a new one. Here are the steps to do that.

How to Deactivate Paytm FASTag?
Note that you can only apply for a new FASTag after you deactivate your existing one. There are two ways to deactivate your FASTag account. Firstly, you can simply call 18001204210 and enter the details of your registered mobile number and vehicle registration number/tag ID. A Paytm customer executive will get in touch with you. You can tell them to deactivate your current account. Alternatively, you can go on the Paytm app. Here are the steps:
- After opening the Paytm app, search for FASTag.
- Scroll down and click on Manage FASTag.
- Scroll down and click on Help & Support.
- Tap on Need help with non-order related queries?
- From the menu, select I want to close my FASTag.
- Select your vehicle registration number.
- Confirm that you wish to close your FASTag account linked with this vehicle registration number by choosing Yes.
- Then, click on Close FASTag.
- Select your vehicle registration number and click on Continue to close.
- Select a reason to close your FASTag and click Proceed.
- Click on Close FASTag.
- The process of closing your FASTag is initiated.

How to Apply for New FASTag Online?
After cancelling your existing Paytm FASTag, you must apply for a new one. For that, you must download the My FASTag app. The steps are as follows:
- Click on buy online after tapping the Buy FASTag option.
- Select your e-commerce platform from where you wish to buy it.
- It will be delivered to you.
- Once you receive it, open the FASTag app and click on Activate FASTag.
- Select the e-commerce platform from where you purchased it.
- Scan the FASTag you received or enter the details manually.
- This will activate your new FASTag account.
