Hongqi is all set to launch a new-gen Hongqi HS5 in China soon. It features a Mahindra XUV700-inspired interior.
Hongqi is a Chinese luxury car brand. It is all set to launch a new SUV in the Chinese market. The company has finally released official images of the HS5 SUV. The interiors of the car look very similar to the Mahindra XUV700. It features a twin-screen layout and a flat-bottom steering wheel. The midsize will also come with big changes on the outside. Compared to the outgoing model, the all-new SUV comes with redesigned air cons. Let’s take a closer look at the midsize SUV and its approach to interior changes.

New Hongqi HS5 ‘Borrows’ Interior Design from Mahindra XUV700?
As you can see in the images above, the second-gen Hongqi HS5 looks very stylish. It borrows the interior design language from Mahindra XUV700 and makes it’s own. You can easily spot the differences on the center console and the dashboard. Just like the XUV700, it gets a widescreen with a touchscreen and a digital cluster without intervention. There is also a flat-bottom steering wheel. The twin-screen layout is complemented with a new UI.
Unlike many modern cars, the climate control screen has been replaced by physical buttons. The center console gets a retractable gear selector and physical buttons. It comes with a compartment for hiding cup holders and dual wireless charging pads. Overall, the new cabin features a dual-tone blue and white theme. In terms of dimensions, the Hongqi HS5 comes with a width of 1.90m, a height of 1.70m, and a wheelbase length of 2.87m. The last-gen model had an overall length of around 4.76 m.

The 2023 Hongqi HS5 will be powered by a new 2.0-liter engine found (similar to the HQ9 MPV) that offers a maximum power output of 252 hp. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The first-gen model comes with a six-speed AT and produces 224 hp of power. On the outside, the 2023 Hongqi HS5 gets a larger grille section with multiple vertical chrome grille slats. There is also Hongqi’s ‘Red Flag’ finish.

More and more premium cars are opting to eliminate the use of physical buttons. Large touchscreen infotainment systems have taken the centre stage. You can control most of the features through this setup. However, it is to be noted that not these new interfaces are not always user-friendly. for certain functions, it is better to have physical switches, knobs, and dials. The Hongqi HS5 is said to be priced in China at RMB 1,85,000 (approx Rs 21.65 Lakh). It is expected to be launched in the coming months.
