Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) recently launched the new Shine 100 to take on the rivals like the Hero Splendor. We have now come up with a detailed comparison of the two bikes that will make it easy for you to decide which of the two will be a perfect choice for you.

Honda Shine 100cc will only be available in single variant, which has been introduced at a starting price of Rs 64,900 (ex-showroom). It bangs in the middle of the 100cc commuter segment wherein the Hero Splendor Plus is available in multiple variants with a starting price of Rs 72,420. The Splendor Xtec variant, equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, side stand engine cut off and a digital speedometer, costs Rs 75,840. This makes the Shine 100 about Rs 7,500 cheaper than the Splendor. For those wondering, the deliveries of the Shine will commence from May 2023.

At the heart of the Shine 100 is a new fuel-injected 99.7cc engine which is capable of delivering 7.6PS of power and 8.05Nm of peak torque. To keep the motor cool, piston-cooling oil jets and offset pistons have been provided, coupled with start solenoid technology with automatic choke system. The motorcycle gets telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorber suspension at the rear. Its combined braking system includes drum brakes on the front and rear axles.
Hero Splendor Plus on the other hand gets a 97.2cc fuel injected engine, which produces maximum power of 7.9bhp and peak torque of 8.05Nm. It is mated to a 4-speed gearbox, as is common in the 100cc segment. It also gets telescopic fork and monoshock suspension unit as standard. Braking is assisted by drum brakes at both the ends. Both the motorcycles feature a 4-speed transmission.

Honda Shine 100 Vs Hero Splendor Plus Comparison – Mileage, Dimensions and Features
Fuel efficiency figures of the Honda Shine 100 are yet to be revealed, but the company claims that it will deliver best-in-class fuel efficiency. For a quick comparison, the Hero Splendor Plus on the other hand claims a mileage between 65 kmpl – 80.6 kmpl. Underneath the Honda Shine 100 is a diamond-type frame that has been specially designed for the bike. It sits atop a 1245mm long wheelbase and offers 786mm high seat. Its ground clearance is 168mm. The fuel tank capacity stands at 9-litres while the bike weighs 114 kg (kerb weight).

The wheelbase, seat and ground clearance of Splendor Plus is slightly less than that of Honda Shine. Its wheelbase is 1236mm, seat height is 785mm and ground clearance is 165mm. It comes with a 9.8-litre which is slightly bigger than the Honda Shine. The Splendor Plus is on the heavy side with a weight of 112 kg. Being a new entry-level offering, the Honda Shine 100 is not equipped with fancy features but gets halogen headlamps, self starter, all-black alloy wheels, side stand engine cut off, dual pod instrument cluster and combined braking system. Hero Splendor Plus has more features than Shine 100, which makes it better than Honda Shine. The list includes switchable i3S technology, an engine cut off sensor, a USB charger, 18-inch alloy wheels and a side stand indicator.
