Honda has been facing a tough challenge concerned with the market sales as it does not offer any CRDI diesel engine variant of any of the models comprising the current line-up and in order to resort to a better stance, the manufacturer recently slashed the prices of Honda Jazz small car by 1.75 Lakh and Honda City by Rs. 66,000 INR.
This certainly has helped the brand’s grip to get slightly more firm as one of dealers in Chennai reportedly sold 30 Jazz in just two days after the prices dropped. Honda City has been the market ruler in the sedan category but the Jazz has always suffered because of its expensiveness, though the car is good. Taking this aggressive strategy towards its competitors, Honda is likely to launch the Honda Jazz facelift in August.
The Jazz is expected to be aggressively priced between Rs. 6.5 Lakh and Rs. 7.8 Lakh to attract more customers and compete with Hyundai i20, Fiat Grande Punto, Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Fabia.
The Jazz has always been appreciated for qualities like low NVH, flexible and comfortable seats, vast boot space, refined MPFI petrol engine, performance and fuel economy and with the changes made in the new Jazz, these attributes are going to get better.
Minor changes on the exteriors and some new installments on the interiors, make this hot hatch even more interesting. Expectedly the standard Jazz will sport dual SRS airbags, ABS and EBD but under the hood the story is reported to be same with a 1.2 Litre i-VTEC engine coupled with a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox. An automatic transmission variant of the same is also in the news.
Getting out of the car, the exterior changes make this car look even more sharper. The redesigned bumpers, new headlamps, fog lamps altogether add an appeal to the existing never ending attraction.
All in all it would be an amazing package for premium hatchback buyers if Honda manages to price it correctly.
