Looks like Honda Car India has begun testing Jazz EV in India, as it has been spotted in Delhi. The EV hatchback was speculated to launch in India by 2020.
In May 2018, reports stating that Honda is developing a new EV based on its hatchback Jazz. Honda Jazz EV was rumoured to launch in the global markets by 2020, indicating a possible launch in India.
Now, for the first time in India, a spy shot of Jazz EV has surfaced on the internet. This took us by surprise too, because the spy shots came out of nowhere. It has been spotted testing on DND flyway, near to its home turf in Greater Noida.
The spotted test mule looks very similar to the previous generation Honda Jazz. However, the alloys are different and the spotted EV does not get a front grille. The charging slot is placed on the left fender above the tire. However, there is no badging of EV or Electric Vehicle.

Honda had announced that it will probably launch the Jazz EV by 2020 in the international markets. However, it was widely speculated that the EV might be exclusively for the Chinese market, followed by some European nations.
Jazz EVs were leased out in selected states of the US and Japan in 2012. However, very limited units were leased. The spotted test mule bears much resemblance to the electric Jazz in the US and Japanese markets.
As of now, the product is under development and very few details have been leaked. International reports say that it will look somewhat different from the current Jazz. The driving range on offer will be around 300 kms on full charge.

Honda plans to sell 10,000 units of this per year. Price expectations of the same are around Rs 15 Lakhs or so.
Meanwhile, for the Indian market, it is said that Honda is developing hybrid cars. Reportedly, Honda City Petrol hybrid is in works and it might launch in 2020. There are rumours of Honda plug-in hybrid cars as well.
By 2020, many automakers are planning to introduce their electric as well as hybrid vehicles in the Indian market. Brands like Toyota, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra and Tata are developing their green-energy models.

If Honda plans to introduce a mass-produced EV in India, might choose Jazz for this purpose. Jazz is the most mass-produced car from Honda in India.
