With the exception of the City mid-size sedan, all the other products in Honda’s portfolio have been facing a tough time in the Indian market. Even the City has had to fight hard with the Maruti Ciaz and the new Hyundai Verna. New products like the BR-V have been unable to meet expectations in terms of sales. The Mobilio MPV, on the other hand, has been taken off the shelves. However, in the coming 12 months or so, Honda Cars India plans to bring popular products from its international lineup to India. These include the new generations of the Civic and the CR-V along with the HR-V small SUV. The Honda HR-V, upon its India launch, will sit above the BR-V and cost around Rs. 14-18 lakh. Expect the Honda HRV India launch date to fall around the end of 2018.

This engine makes about 135 BHP and 170 Nm.

Honda HRV India Review – Exterior Design
The Honda HR-V or Vezel made its debut in 2013 at the Tokyo Motor Show. It is based on the 2013 Honda Urban SUV concept. It features sleek headlamps with projector units and LED daytime running lamps. The thick slab housing the Honda logo gets a chrome strip running through the middle. For the Indian market, the entire slab could come finished in chrome. The side profile is characterised by body cladding for the wheels arches and a sloping roofline. Much like the Chevrolet Beat, the rear door handle is mounted high right next to the rear window. At the back, there are split tail lamps that could feature LED detailing. While the overall design is smart, the tail lights do look a tad oversized. While it is not big in terms of appearance, it will be more expensive than the similarly sized Hyundai Creta.
Honda HRV India Review – Interior Design
The HRV’s interior features typical Honda elements. The steering wheel is quite similar to Honda products currently on sale in India. So is the instrument cluster and the touch sensitive auto aircon setup. Expect the HR-V to feature Honda’s 7 inch Digipad infotainment system currently available on the WR-V and City. The passenger side of the dashboard gets a unique three vent setup. Unlike the BR-V, the HR-V will only feature seating for 5 occupants. The HR-V boasts 393 litres of boot space.
Honda HR V India – Engine and Transmission Options
The HR-V could come with the same engine options as the Honda City – 1.5 L Petrol and 1.5 L Diesel. The petrol will get automatic and manual transmission options. While the diesel will be manual only. Also on offer could a bigger 1.8 L petrol that will power the upcoming Civic sedan. More details on the specifications of the upcoming Honda HRV in India as we get them. While the UK-spec HR-V gets a 1.6 L diesel, India is unlikely to get that engine.
